bout to do my brakes....
im about to do the front pads and rotors on my 01 R/T...anything i should watch for? is it pretty straight forward like anyother brake job? i hope there isnt any special tool i need.......
I forget if its a 14mm or 17mm. Anyways get either one of those sockets and a good ratchet or breaker bar, and only undo the bottom bolt. This way you can hinge the caliper up, and you wont stress the brake line. Pop out the old pads, then go to the engine bay, and loosen the brake fluid reservoir. Using a C-clamp, press the piston back in. Once its good, tighten the brake fluid reservoir cap back up. Install pads, and tighten the caliper bolt. Repeat on the other side.
a few things. if youre doing the rotors as well, youll need to remove the caliper bridge from the suspension assembly...when i did mine, i used an impact gun because they were tight as hell...especially the rears. just pivoting the floating portion of the caliper wont be enough to remove the rotors, i believe...but i could be wrong. i did mine overa year ago...but i thought thati removed both of the bridge bolts to get the rotors off...but pearl is right, its best not to let the caliper assembly hang on the brake hose.
also, when putting the caliper bridge bolts back in (especially in the rear) be sure not to cross thread the bolts...ive seen that problem on a ton of eclipses and strats.
