You could just try to replace the blower resistor under the glove box.You can get thru a dealer,or junkyard.I tried this on mine, but it ended up burning out in about a week's time. I needed to replace the blower and place another resistor in.Didn't have a problem going on a year now. Just my advice, good luck with your wife's car.

I had the same problem on my 1998 Stratus. I tried just replaceing the resistor and the new one blew right away. I had to replace the blower and the resistor the second attempt.

I have the same problem on a 2001. The lower speeds failed first and now only the high speed works. I took the dash all apart last week and inspected the switch etc. Couldn't find the "resistor" to replace.
Sounds like the right solution. I'll try tracking the wires from the blower up to the resistor.

On my 1998 stratus the resistor is above the feet of thefront passenger's feet. There is a little panel that comes out with 2 screws that the resistor is attached to.
