2004 R/T questions
Hello, All. I'm from the Charger forum, but have some questions about a 2004 Stratus R/T.
A very, very dear friend of mine is looking to get rid of her 2000 Intrepid for a 2004 R/T. I don't know whether its a 4-door or 2-door coupe. Shelives about 2000 miles away, so this is the only way I can help her.
I've done a bit of research, and so I know that the 4-door has the 2.7 V-6, and the coupe has the 3.0 V-6. It seems, from what I've read, that there may have been/are problems with the automatic in the 2.7s? Is this correct? The one she's going to look at has the slapstik tranny. Is the tranny the same for both engines.
Also have seem quite a few comments on the brakes making "clunking" noises.
Basically, I'd like your collective "what to look fors", and "what to watch out fors".
Thanks everyone!

I haven't had any problem with my 3.0 Coupe. I would make sure the car has been kept up maintenance wise, not sure how many miles are on the car. No brake problems, here either.
I have 2004 R/T sedan 4 door That bought in July 2003 it has 78000 miles andit has (knock on wood) never given me a minute of trouble. To get to your question about the coupe 3.0 and the sedan 2.7. The coupe is a Mitsubishi Eclipse with Dodge clips fore and aft. The sedan is a Dodge. Good luck finding a sedan they are scarse. The coupe are a dime a dozen if you w3ant a rice burner with a Dodge grill. She would probably be better off trying to find an SXT with the 2.7
Thanks for your responses. I just talked to her and passed them along. She is going to take her brother-in-law (who really doesn't know sqawt about cars) with her tomorrow night and go look at it. It's about 74 miles away from where she is.
The car is a 4-door sedan, R/T. Not sure I made that clear in my original post. It's pretty well loaded "options" wise from what she's been able to find out so far.
Any others care to chime in with your thoughts? Any and all help/suggestions are very welcome and very much appreciated.
