1999 Dodge stratus stuck in limp mode (2nd gear and reverse) and the speedometer does not work.

Also getting these 2 codes:
P0731 - Gear 1 ratio incorrect
P0700 - Transmission Control System malfunction

Any ideas on what needs to be replaced, or has anyone else had this same exact problem and can tell me what to do? Any help will be greatly appreciated!

 

it would be most helpful to know what engine configuration you have in your '99. 2.0, 2.4, 2.5v6.

We can narrow down the issue once we know what we're dealing with.

 

Likely it's the output speed sensor causing the speedo to not work ...

 

I've had the speed sensor conk out twice on my '99 stratus and the symptoms you describe are exactly what happened both times.
