I have a 2001 dodge stratus with a 2.4 liter. The motor went out and I replaced it with a 2003 2.4 salvage yard motor. The problem I'm have is I'm only getting firing from the # 1 and 4 cylinders. # 3 & 2 are not firing. Needing answers on where and what I may need to do to solve this problem. I have compression, gas, but no spark from plup wires 2 and 3.

If the check engine light is not on or you can't diagnose the car for codes, then start out simple. Spark plugs, wires, and the ignition module. Does this happen often, sometimes, or all the time? Try the plugs first. If that does not work, then read on. If it is sometimes, then I would try the wires first, they could be worn out and/or loose and not getting a good connection with the plug and/or module. If it is constant with a bad smell, its the module.

This was the case on one of my cars a few months back.

So far The answer Is It can not be done. I have A 2001 Dodge Stratus With the 2.7. I know that It Is not recommended to try to put anything else In! The car has only 84000 Miles on it and I would say that It has set most of it's Life. I have heard A lot of Horror Stories about the 2.7 and I don't have A problem rebuilding It. My question Is like many others. Can I put something else In It? Is it possible to put the 05 Motor In the 01 Car since Dodge did make some Improvements on the Engine as the Years went on. Or can I do A transplant with the 3.0 Wiring Harness ECM so on so fourth. I was A Automotive Tech for quite A few Years but had to get out of It due to A chronic back Issue So I am behind on My Technology I would be doing it Myself to say the least. Also will the 2.7 trans work with the 3.0 motor? I would doubt it but just another question. I would appreciate any Information about this Car and the possibilities or lack there of. What can I do to make the 2.7 better! Any Information would be valued If It Is not complete sarcasm! HA HA Thank You For Your Time.:icon_deadhorse:

I have a 99 stratus es showing codes p0700, p0740, it is sluggish shifting to drive from park or wont shift at all and will be in neutral, then I turn off and on and it shifts normal. the car runs good other than the shifting problem and fluid and filter have been changed

2.7 motors aren't even worth replacing. JUNK JUNK JUNK>

I have a 1999 dodge stratus and it was working good yesterday. I got up this morning to go to class and it would not crank the dashbord lite wont even come on i got my battery charged and a new starter and still nothing someone said that it could the anti thief system can someone please help me

Yes I'm making them lol oddly iv discovered the cable diameter is the same in a Bell brake and gear cable kit for bicycles :)

1997 Dodge Stratus-Charging System issues
 

Hello everyone/anyone,

I have a '97 Dodge Stratus, 5-speed w/ a 2.0 Liter engine, which is having charging issues. Now I have changed out the alternator, starter, and battery on this car.....and even did some minor wiring, cable, and connector changes. I do not know where to go from here besides to have my alternator, battery and starter tested while they are not on the car. Is there possibly a simpler and easier way to find the actual issue??? I'm all eyes and taking suggestions. I'm a young buck trying to put my schooling and time there to use.

i have a 2004 dodge stratus r/t. having issues with the pass mirror and door locks in unlock mode and dash lights are very dim. Question does this have a body control module tha would need to be replaced? I was told that this has mitsubshi parts and its hard to find parts for.

3.2 Liter Loud Tapping noise

im trying to sell my 02 status (3.2L) but I want to be able to give an honest answer to the question all will ask... "whats that loud noise?"


it used to only happen on cold starts. at first just for a few minutes. then as time went on it got louder and louder. recently I haven't been driving it and when I start it to make sure I can sell it the noise never stops now. I have let it run for almost an hour before, and it continues to knock. Help me!!??

Similar happened to me 2013 and it was the Distributor that had to be replaced in my 1998 3.8 model with 156K mileage in October 2013. Replacement of "Crank only" was not the answer.
Yes, Distributors do go bad! it is expensive repair.

Timing belt maybe I'd look into that.. It's a fairly rough job

I have a 2003 Stratus and sometimes, more often than not, when I shut off the car and exit, the horn will go off for about straight 30 seconds or so? Any idea on what that could be or what I could do to stop it?
