98 Stratus - VSS
New member here
Wife currently has a 98 Stratus with the 2.5l V6 with about 110k miles on it. Tranny fluid is pink and no burning smell in it.
For some reason it does not like to shift out of first. The codes i got form the car was P0700 and P0725. It never did show any signs of it hard shifting, it just stopped, and the CEL light came on. I can shift it into reverse and drive and everything it just wont work its way through gears. **Edit** I also forgot to mention that the speedo does not work, and all gear indicators have the litte square around it.
After doing some looking i thought it might have the VSS, i changed the input side and it did not change anything. Now im looking to change the output side but i cant find it on the tranny.
If anyone knows where the output VSS is, or any idea what the problem might be please let me know.

I know this is a little stale but...
Our 98 stratus es 2.4 threw both the P0700 and P0725 and replaced both sensors, but it didn't fix our problem either. Any ideas? Maybe a crank sensor? Anyway....
If you are looking from the front of the car, the output speed sensor should be to the right of the input sensor. We found it very easy to get at by taking off the left front wheel and splash shield and it is right there.
