I have a 1997 dodge stratus es 2.4l 4 cyl, and when I start the car the brake doesn't release. The brake still feels like the battery is just and not started. I had the driver side back break replaced and the passenger side back brake rebuilt 2 1/2 years ago. Any suggestions?

 

Are you talking about the emergency brake? If so I doubt it has anything to do with the car being on. Need more info, do you push the button down? Does it go in? Maybe the cable is binding some where?

 

It is all fixed, when I replaced the EGR Valve I knocked the vacuum hose loose.
