Had the shock of my life when I opened the master cylinder reservoir- the brake fluid was almost black! I`ve had a lot of cars, I`ve never seen it so black! I guess the previous owner never bothered checking it!

With that in mind, I desperately need to flush the lines. I was thinking of using a syringe to suck up the reservoir fluid, then top up with new fluid. Then do the usual bleed with some clear pipe and watch for the new fluid exiting the pipe?

Is there a specific type of brake fluid needed for a 96 Strat and also how much fluid will I need to flush the system right through?
