I bought a 2003 stratus R/T
Just bought a 2003 dodge stratus today with 13,000 miles on it. Can anyone tell me if there are any known problems I should know about? And anyone know what the alternator puts out?
front motor mounts...some sunroof issues...and the 01-02 RTs had some issues with spring coil clearance...im not sure if they fixed any of these issues with the 2.5 gen RTs. howver, considering how hard i beat on my RT...the only problem i have had is that the front motor mount is just now starting to go south, and thats after 45,000 miles of hard driving...racing...so on.
now when you say sunroof problems, you mean leaks, right? Well I have a problem when i accelerate, it sounds like something rattles in the engine department on the passenger side. I know it isn't the motor, but something around it. And the car isn't acting up at all, it is just something that gets on a person's nerves.
I just did a search for you and there is not current recalls on the 2003 dodge stratus r/t at this time.
I hope that helps you out a little bit as far as knowing if there is any recalls on your car or not.
As for you little noise that you are hearing. When exactly do you hear the noise. And where about is it comming from?

On acceleration is when the sound occurs. While just cruising at 55mph it's undetectable. Once theres a load on the engine is when I hear it. It's coming from about the front floor boards to mid-way up the firewall. Closer to the middle passenger side.
It almost sounds like an exhaust leak at first, but if listening closely it sounds like its missing out when really getting the rpm's up. Kinda like a rev limiter for when a car has an msd staging kit(not that radical though). Even though the engine is running very smoothly through all this.

I really don't know what it could be but maybe if you think it's misfireing then you could possibally check your spark plugs or something in the electrical aspect part.
But maybe somebody else has some better information for you I really can't think what it could be.
