I just installed a Thrush Glasspack in place of the stock resonator in my 98 2.4L, and I already have been stopped twice by local law enforcement for "Illegal Modification of Vehicle Exhaust". How is this possible? The car isn't over any dB limit and its maybe one dB over OEM. I'm just getting a little irked that this is what the local pigs do. Every Honda Civic in town has a big Borla or Apex'i N1 style exhaust and they wave by cops as they drive by, yet the police pull over a 17 year old kid for a glasspack. Last I checked the glasspack was legal in New York. Anyone have any comments on this?

 

not sure if it's legal or not. I would look up the citation and see if it's a secondary (ie: they can't pull you over for it, but if they pull you over, they can ADD it to a primary offense such as speeding or running a stop sign).

thanks, but there was no moving violation that I knew of. It was on a lengthy stretch of roadway marked at 55, and the cop who had been following me since I left the shop at my Vo-Tech school decided to put his lights on as I was slowing to turn onto my street. I put on my directional and proceeded as usual (I've driven this road for 2 years) and started to slow to make a left turn and *whoop whoop* on goes his lights. And his siren. And directs me to pull to the side of the road. I think it might be that my exhaust is kinda close to the bumper (the pipe is pulled up so it touches the bumper) and he saw it as a safety ordeal.

 

should be that behind the cat converter can be modified. File under CS.

 

Sounds like they have nothing better to do. I would make it louder if they are going to keep pulling you over than make it worth while. I got pulled over two days ago for running a red light she was a sexy state trooper though and let me off plus gave me her phone number. She handcuff me anytime. Lol:d
