Default Buying Engine Mounts for '95 stratus, 2.0L????

Hey everyone!

I do apologize if there is a related thread, I couldn't seem to find exactly what I needed to know from the other posts.

My husband and I are rebuilding the engine in our '95 Dodge Stratus (2.0L)...we are wanting to replace the engine mounts but are having a hell of a time finding them!

Where do you guys recommend to go??? Online or in-store (we're in Canada, so if you know any places that would carry them, let us know)

Thanks!!!!!!!!

really no need to bump an hour old post. a lot of us have work during the day and can't respond immediately.

but to answer your question...

Most auto parts stores here in the states would carry mounts, and if they don't have the mounts in stock, they can order them. I find it hard to believe motor mounts would be "dealer only", in which case, your local dealer can get them for you. Call around to whatever parts stores, or even junkyards... The prices vary from location to location, and you have the pretty rare 2.0 1st gen strat.

Sorry, had the wife search for a forum and do a search, I guess she thought I needed the answer ASAP.

I've tracked down the "inserts" for the front and rear motor mounts as they are not replaced as a unit but rather new inserts are installed.

I went out to the car tonight to confirm this, and tried to remove the old ones but they are pressed in there fairly solid.

Is there a trick to getting these things out?

you may need to relieve the tension on them if you haven't already. the inserts should be able to be pried out. they are designed to fit extremely snugly, and over years of being pressed in, you'll just have to use some elbow grease and work on them.

That's what I figured, the engine is removed from the vehicle so the tension is released and there is lots of room to swing a hammer.

I mangled the front one, beat on it for quite a while and it hasn't budged... I've only managed to bend the end with the flange on it.

I didn't say anything about using a hammer. just prying the inserts out. small chisel, flat head screw driver, thin metal, lots of work... try some wd40 or other silicon lubricant.

Prying does nothing, I started with prying but it is ineffective.

Using the air chisel tonight.

Well, I won...

No amount of prying with a screwdriver or chisel was ever going to get those things out. I ended up running my hack saw blade on the inside of the mount after cutting out the rubber, then with a large punch I curled it out from the inside.
