Leak under front of Stratus
Hi all:
Last month I had a transmission leak diagnosed and repaired. The mechanic replaced the transmission cooling lines as well as the transmission pan gasket (with a flush and fill and filter replacement). Just recently I noticed a slight leak under the front of my car -- in front of the transmission pan. As you are under the car, just under the fender, there is a plastic shield where I note residue around ther center. I have not determined it is transmission fluid yet, but am pretty certain it is not engine oil. I was curious what general problems this could be based on the location of the leak, assuming it is transmission fluid. Could this be a lingering issue with the cooling lines? The location of the previous leak was always around the pan, but this is not at the pan, but in the front as I noted.
The leak is maybe 5 drops a day.
Thanks
Matt

We'll need to know coupe/sedan, engine size and cylinder number and what year before we can help determine what is leaking (ie: 2000/sedan/2.5 v6).
[edit start]OK, looked up previous posts. You've got a 2004 sedan 2.7 right? Might be a good idea to put those specs in your vehicle info or signature [edit end]
If you have a white piece of clean cardboard, place that under the leaking area so that you can see what color the leaking fluid is, and this can help.
I have a chronic leak (about same ammount 5-10 drops a day) of transmission fluid, that is coming from my cooler lines. Get us that info, and the experts on your particular trim can best help.

Sorry for not specifying car info.
My car is a 2004 2.7L V6 Stratus sedan. I confirmed the reddish color of the fluid, so yes, definitely transmission fluid. A month ago the mechanic looked over the cooling lines they replaced and said that no further leaks were present. I am not entirely believeing them, but I guess it could be another seal that has gone bad(?)
I just need to crawl under the thing and localize the leak -- but can you direct me to the general location where the cooling lines are. I would like to start there and ensure these guys aren't pulling a fast one on me.
Thanks a lot.

the cooling lines generally run forward and along the radiator. at least on my '00 strat (and '92 bonneville, '99 kia,'90 6000le). My cooler lines are what I am having problems with, but i'm just a little lazy at times, and didn't bother replacing them yet. The guys with 2g sedans can give you more detailed information.
