Rough startup and ideling
I have a 2005 Stratus with about 60k miles and it's just recently been making a lot of noise. It was running very rough and shaking upon startup and while ideling. I took it to the dealer and they said I needed the spark plugs replaced and a fuel system treatment. I did both and now the car runs a little smoother, but not a lot. But it has major problems on days where there's a lot of moisture in the air. When I turn it on when it's wet out, it rumbles very loud and shakes so bad that the car bounces up and down. It usually smoothes out after about 30 seconds, but sounds horrible in the process. I know a few people who had Dodge vehicles and said they had the same problems during wet weather, but they never figured out what it was. Any ideas?
rather odd. i'd start by looking at vac hoses. with the engine COLD, you can use carb cleaner. spray around the intake track (from air filter to intake manifold), if the engine revs up you have a vac leak.
i'd first take it to a major parts stor to get the codes read as not all codes make the eng light stay on, just to see if anything comes up.
let us know what you find.
