Default Water pump outlet pipe

Is there supposed to be some type of o-ring or gasket on the outlet of the water pump?

when i built my last 4 cylinder, it was a 2.6 stroker in a sebring...but the outlet pipe looked somewhat like that one...the o-ring was on the pipe itself, and when you fed it into the pump opening, it was perfectly flush with the housing. at first, i didnt have the ring in right, and the pipe wasnt flush..and the water pump wouldnt turn freely.

Thanks, I can't find anything in the Haynes for the 2.0 SOHC in regards to this pipe... But I think it's safe to assume that there should be an o-ring on there.

Now to figure out which of the 100 o-rings that came in my un-labelled rebuild kit belongs to this pipe!

as i recall, the o-ring was very large, and completely filled that gap. when we took the old engine apart, that o-ring was so packed with corrosion and stop-leak from the previous owner that it looked like a solid pipe, but the new one had that gap there.
