Unhappy Trouble with running

Hi i just bought a 97 stratus 2.4 4cyl with 325000 kms on it
the guy said that the head gasket and plugs and leads were replaced but that maybe the fuel pump would have to be changed soon because it was playing up. 2 days after buying the car it stopped and the engine wouldnt start so i replaced the pump and now she take a long time to start and when she does she will only run for about 10 seconds and then dies if i try and accelerate she will cut out straight away i thought that this might be the catalytic converter so i took a look and i found out she didnt have one, someone took it off. so i checked the injectors took them off no blockages checked the leads and nothing she i still the same. DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT IS WORNG i got a scanner and tried for codes but it says it cant communicate with the engine, it will connect with the transmission and the body but not the abs or the wngine I NEED HELP PLEASE

Is there any knocking?

Engine needs air, fuel, and spark. If the plugs were changed and the fuel pump was changed and the injectors look fine, then air is probably the problem. Check the air filter first. That's easy and cheap enough to replace.

Do you get a CEL? Any codes? My guess is that there's very little air getting in, and therefore very little fuel too. Also, next time you start the car up, just put the key in and turn it to the "ON" position first. Wait 5-10 seconds before you start it up. This allows the fuel pump to put some pressure in the lines before you start it up.
