Code p0703 is a failed brake light switch, which i believe could also disable the cruise control much like the clutch switch in a manual will disable cruise control if the clutch is pressed.

Do your brake lights work?

What stratus do you have coupe, sedan, 3.0L v6 (re bagged eclipse)

Any symptoms other than intermittent loss of cruise control?

Do me a favor next time the code sets go check your brake lights see if they are working. The switch cost like 20 bucks. It is located on the brake pedal, it will either be in front of or behind the pedal at the top. It will have a plunger that contacts the pedal, and an electrical pig tail. usually you just twist it and pull it out kinda like a headlamp.

Nope, my third brake light hasn't worked for two years lol. Could still be the switch. Do you know how to use a voltmeter ? The switch works by either completing or braking a circuit it's a simple on/off thing. Pull your switch off, and press the plunger see if it sticks.

Sometimes it isn't a plunger it's a rheostat ( hard to explain on here but it's a variable resister with a pin that follows a wheel and at certain points has a certain level of resistance)

click on the link I gave you that should be your part.

Ill give you the short version, DTCs (Diagnostic trouble codes) are set when a certain condition is met, it is different from car to car and code to code. If the ECU detects a fault it sets a pending code and once the fuel has happened for long enough or enough times in some certain amount of time it will illuminate the check engine light and set the code
