I bought a "timing component kit" for my 2000 Stratus 2.4L engine, from the neighborhood chain store. The new bearings and tensioner were there, BUT NO timing belt! Is this normal? or am I just out of touch with buying parts listed as "kit".

 

Should be a listing on the box of what it contains. Or call the parts store you got it from and ask what is supposed to be in it. I have seen some "kits" that include all the supporting hardware and stuff, but not the main item. Usually for those that buy just, say, the belt and realize everything else is needed afterwards.
