I'm in a similar position with the same car, but, as I understand it, it is not too hard to replace the gasket, assuming this should be the same dual over head cam. The Haynes guide describes the process pretty simply and you just need a new gasket and some anaerobic RTV sealant to switch it out.
You can download the guide at pdftown.com. When you select to download it just select the "free user" button under the right picture of a gauge. It only takes a little longer and its free. Also note the password before you download as you will need it each time you open the PDF. Oh, and of course, make sure you have Adobe Acrobat, which is also free.
