Default looking into buying a stratus

I am looking into buying a dodge stratus 4 cylinder, from the 2001-2002 model years, I love that the price is so low on them and they drive very well, but I am wondering about their reliability. I have heard that people have many problems with these cars, and just wanted to know what types of experiences you guys had- if you had any problems, why types of problems, and approx how many miles are on your car.

I have an 02 Stratus and love it. I think this car is highly underrated. For the money, it's tough to beat, especially if you buy it used. Fun car to drive (with the v-6). Unfortunately, I have to sell mine because we need to buy a minivan for the kids. (See for sale ad in classifieds on this web site). I have 38,000 miles on it, with no problems.

The 2001/2002 Stratus is a bargain, especially if it is reasonably well equipped and in decent shape with low mileage. We just hooked my mother up with one a few months ago and she is still loving it. She replaced a (for all intents and purposes) deceased 1992 Pontiac Sunbird with the 2001 Stratus SE; it has a V-6, power seats, and a bunch of other extras. There is literally no comparison, and she wonders why she didn't trade up sooner. I test drove the car before she bought it, and it was solid, quiet, and smooth. If I needed a small car, the Stratus would be at the top of my list.

I bought a 2003 SXT sedan 2 years ago, to replace my totalled 1989 Dodge Spirit, which had been the most reliable car I had ever owned and one of the most satisfying. After 26 months and 25K troublefree miles (40K km), I recommend the Stratus very highly. A well cared for used late model Stratus sedan is a great bargain!

I have a 99 cuz im not lucy like all the people here with their 02-05 lol the only problems i've had are tire wear (i peel out too much though) and transmission problems...i have roughly 117k miles too...soo yeah...other than that the car is VERY reliable, ALWAYS starts...my car has never not started (cept when the battery died rofl) the dodge cars ARE pretty messed up though, like they aren't like most cars..my battery is so wierd looking and the wiring and placement of parts are soooo wierd but hey, it adds a challenge when working on it which is what i love <3
