To be interference or not to be! That is the question!
Okay so I removed the upper timing chain cover and found out that my timing belt is broken! My question is now, is my engine an interference engine? The car is a 2002 Dodge Stratus SXT with DOHC engine 2.4L 4 cylinder.
I have read several posts with different answers. Can anyone tell me for sure?
Also the belt broke while it was running. Could I have engine damage? And while attempting to diagnose the problem the car was cranked with the ignition key. Could that have damaged the engine?

I dont think the 2.4 DOHC in the Sedans is interference... I know the 2.4 SOHC in the coupes is though.
You might get lucky and are able to line everything up, put a new chain on and have it work fine. The only thing that gets messed up is valves hitting the piston, but thats what makes the 'interference' motors, so you should be alright.
