2002 Dodge Stratus New Timing Belt Slips off Cam?
Hello All!!!
I just installed a new timing belt, tensioner and pulley on my car. When I installed I noticed that when I hand turned the crank shaft the belt wanted to creep off the EXHAUST Cam Shaft by like a quarter inch.
Needless to say I never installed a belt before. In fact this has to be the toughest job I ever tackled...
Somehow I thought the belt would find its center after it ran for a little bit! Boy was I wrong! Yes it did run for a lil while but when I got her back to the garage I took the timing cover off only to discover the outer edge of the belt shredded!! What could cause the belt to creep of the cam like that? Any help will be greatly appreciated!!!!!!
