Hi guys,

im about to buy a 2003 Stratus SXT Coupe. It's an automatic and i really want the manual transmission that (from what i checked) is an option for the car. Its second hand, as you already have guessed. Is there any way to swap it out? and how much would it roughly cost..? (just the transmission)

 

That's going to cost a couple thousand for sure. It's real hard to find parts for this car esp a man tranny. If your up for a project though thats a different story, lol. Good luck!

 

I'm gonna be really honest with you. The manual swap for this car is extremely simple. But to be honest I would not be looking to the how to my the dodge forum because the swap on this car isn't done very often or if it is its not talked about but the swap is readily don't on the 99-05 3g eclipse. And to be honest the 3g eclipse and the sxt + r/t stratus are the exact same cars just different body. All of the internals mechanical and electronically are the same. Including the seats. But if I were you I would start here at the link I'll post at the end of this message. I'm in the middle of doing a manual swap on my v6 stratus and everything you will do is all the same with the exception I'm guessing with the automatic transmission harness I don't know it it is different between the v6 auto Trans and the 4 cylander auto Trans so I can't help you there but I can help you with everything else.and it is not as hard as everyone thinks it'll be. Just be sure to watch videos on removing the 2002 3g eclipse spyder gs dash without breaking it because it's the same dash so you can remove the automatic shift cable and install the manual shifter cables.
