Default 2.0 engine opinion?

I'm looking at a 98 stratus 2.0 5spd.clean but has a 124000 miles on it,Never had one of these 2.0 engines or they anygood ? Anything to look for ?

its pretty much just like having a heavy neon...its the same engine and trans...the 2.0 strats are way easyier to mod becasue of that...imo its a decent engine...i pefer 2.4s because of the tq...and 124k is a pretty big number...the motors got to be on the edge of leaks and would need a new timing belt if not done already

The 2.0/5spd actually has the lowest 0-60 time of the three stock engines. 2.0/5spd than 2.5v6, than the 2.4i4. The automatic trans on the 2.4/2.5 cuts the power to the wheels a bit more than I feel it should. Not sure about how well the 2.0 holds up (I've heard of neons with pretty high mileage), but my 2.5v6 has over 177,000mi and going strong. All depends on how it was treated by it's previous owner(s).
