i have a 98 breeze that needs a new harness, got one from the junk yard and i pulled from same motor but out of a stratus.. lol.. i was sure it would work... but when i got home the connectors were different...i was pissed..lol... can any one help me with this... especially the pcm pin out of BOTH the harnesses so i can match the old connectors to the new harness?

Out of curiosity, did you pull it from one with the same engine? The '95-00 Stratus/breeze/cirrus came with three engines. 2.0l, 2.4l, 2.5lv6. Harness is not compatible across the engines, but like you said, should be the same across makes.
All my service manuals indicate the same connections for all three "makes".

 

ok well i just finished reconnecting the old connectors to the new harness. because like i said, the harness was from a stratus, as i have a breeze (same body make) i noticed that in the 40 pin connector to the pcm, there are a few different lines. first there is a black case(new harness-stratus) and the grey case(old harness-breeze)

now in the black case pin#2 is blk/gry, grey case pin#2 not used

blk case pin#4 solid green, gry case pin #4 not used

bkl case pin#11 not used, gry case pin #11 blk/grey

blk case pin#27 not used, gry case pin#27 blk/red

blk case pin#25 not used, gry case pin #25 blue/grn

blk case pin#24 blk/grn, gry case pin#24 not used


the rest of the pins are matched.. can any one tell if i have to re-route these or will it just work the way it is pinned

 

Any luck with that harness yet? Every document I can find for these cars shows me that the harness is the same, pinouts should be the same. The difference may be contributed to a different model year (there was some minor revisions between '95-'00 although nothing specific is mentioned.)

Can you trace any of the wires and see where they are going to, and visit the yard you got the strat harness from and see where they go?

They won't connect two wrong things together (IE: black is blank where grey isn't, vice versa), so I doubt you'll damage anything by just plugging it in, and see what issues you have (some sensors not getting signal, etc).
