I agree with ratsttam, any used car has potential to have invisible to the naked eye damage. If you are not sure about it, have a mechanic check it out. Like I said before though, stay away from dark colored paint...fades severly. And as far as the sludge, carbon, etc goes…try SeaFoam. Awesome product. I put 1/3 can in the main vacuum line every time I change the oil, and put the rest in the gas tank. It makes a very noticable difference.
I wouldn't suggest doing this on a car that hasn't had cleaners in it previously. It can loosen sludge and cause massive failure (had it happen). Look for vehicles that have had regular maintenance with high grade (preferrably synthetics if it has a 2.7) fluids. Putting it in the fuel is a great idea though. cleans the fuel system very well.
If shes looking at the coupe, she doesnt have to worry about the sludgy 2.7 V6. The coupe has a Mitsu 3.0 with no issues like that.
Regardless of which is in question. Running oil cleaners through a used engine is a bad idea if it hasn't been done before. It can literally clean out stuff that's holding the motor together. All I'm saying.
Anyway I think end result of this Thread: Get a Stratus, Forget about the GTP

EVERY motor has sludge. Running oil cleaners through a dirty motor is a bad idea regardless of what it is. It can literally clean out stuff that is holding the motor together.
Someone's always gotta be hating on the 2.7
Anyway, I think the answer to the Thread is: Buy a Stratus, Forget the GTP
