Default 2001 2.7 stratus engine noise

I am working on a 2001 dodge stratus 4 door with the 2.7 motor. Car was not running due to a cam shaft position sensor. I replaced the sensor and the car started right up. Upon starting it was making a clacking sound which sounded like the valves hitting the pistons. I also noticed the oil light was on. I took the valve covers off and noticed some slack in the timing chain, there should be none correct? My question is the chain tensioner is controlled by the oil pressure correct? And if so should I assume the oil light was due to a bad tensioner or could it be the oil pump causing the tensioner to not work giving me slack in the chain. What do I need to replace please help.

so why dig up a post that's 1/2 a year old. start a new one.

clearly state your year/make/model/engine size.
miles
history of the problem (when, where, why, how)
what have you done to attempt to repair/diagnose

Passenger side front, it hides under a wire loom. Let me see if I can find a pic for you
