Purchasing a Stratus/ 2 to choose from
Hello guys, I am planning on purchasing a car here within the next week. I'll be the first to say i wasnt a big fan of dodges (no offense) but i decided to take a look at the stratus (was trying to find a car in my price range, and other than the strat. i seen a ton of grand ams and a few older cars....but here, everyone and there brother has a grand am...heck even MY brother has one lol!). Not many strati around here, especially the R/T. Well somehow I managed to come across two for sale in the area, and I'm a bit torn and i would like second opinions on what you guys think i should do.
First Option:
2001 R/T. 32,000 Miles, Red, Leather, PWR: Seats, Sunroof, Infinity 4 Disc Changer, 5 Speed Manual. $11,000
Second Option:
2003 R/T. 53,000 Miles, All Options, Automatic, $13,900
Here's my deal: I love manuals, but since this is a bigger, nicer car, more power, I could justify an automatic (plus the parents think i should have an auto). Is the manual much quicker than the automatic? If not then the auto might be okay, but i dont want to lose too much performance. I've been driving these little four cylinder cars around for a while, and with them you really notice the dif. from auto to manual (currently driving a 95 Escort GT 5 speed). My other question, is the newer one worth the extra money, with those extra miles on it? I do like the look a little bit better but thats $3,000 difference, on top of 20,000 more miles.
Sorry i forgot to introduce myself, Name's Ryan. Obviously im from south dakota, im 17. been through a few cars in 3 years... :-P. Currently have: 1990 F-150, 1955 Chevrolet 210 Sedan and the escort.

DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE THAT I DID! BUY THE MANUAL TRANNY! i got an autostick due to a severe knee problem at the time that i bought my car...and i wish, every day, that i had gotten a manual..the manual stock for stock is about a second faster in the quarter mile! as much as i love my RT...buy the stickshift car!
