Default 00 2.4L SE stratus trans prob/dead

Past two months felt like tranny was slipping when I came to a stop, car would jerk forward and such. Before this I had to replace spark plugs, idler pulley, timing belt, water cooler and such.

But this is different it would like jerk forward at stop lights. So today I pull over on a small embankment and then go to put it in drive and nothing car revs up and makes a loud whining noise. Then jumps into gear, then goes out and feels like it's in neutral. Same thing in reverse, fluids are fine oil is fine.

Pretty sure the tranny let go. having a mechanic look at it tomorrow

Those symptoms don't sound so good
Best of luck, love that color too.
How many miles were on it when it let go on ya? I'm a few hundred away from 180,000mi. Changing the fluid and filter [with true ATF+4, and not a mix like some shops will try to pass off] every 60,000mi makes a difference with those 41te trans.
You can probably find a decent junk yard one if it's majorly shot, as a LOT of dodge vehicles use it (even the caravan!)

Nice... I picked up mine in Feb '08 with 140,000 for $1,200 cash to use for delivering pizza and not keep beating my '04 Cavalier LS Sport. Cavalier got totaled Dec '08, and the Strat just keeps on running.

Keep us posted on the diagnostic there, and may it not be too bad to fix.
