Here's the pic of the oxidation. There's no peeling or chipping. It's too oxidized for colored wax to help, I'm wondering if a pro might be able to wheel it out with some rubbing or polishing compound.

That looks like acid rain damage.....or possibly even some kind of weather damage....look up some acid rain damage pictures....eats clear coat and paint like no tomorrow

Yup, very possible. I started to notice it more last year, it could have started 2 years ago when we had The Fires out here. A lot of ash in the air for a week or so. Tried to clean the car off when possible but we couldn't really go outside for a few days. The air normally isn't that bad in this specific part of San Diego, the car spends about 8 hours a day 1/2 mile from the ocean, which cleans the air out significantly. No salt spray though, it's not that. There are other dark colored cars in SD that have similar oxidation, so some of it may have to do with sun damage.
