changed dist cap now runaway rpm HELP
Good news and bad news. The 2.5l engine runs so much better with new cap and rotor. Bad news is when I reassembled everything the idle was red lined. I looked under the hood and found one plug (IAC) I missed connecting at the throttle body under the accelerator cables. I hooked it back up and nothing changed.
What grevious error have I commited? Please respond. I only have one car.
I disconnected battery to reset thinking it needed to relearn but that made no difference.

One thing I did that might be a problem. To make room for my hands, I disconnect the vacuum line on a cylinder that goes to one of the cables on the accelerator swivel (for lack of a better term). but I did reconnect it. Did that cause a problem when I disconnected it and pushed it aside while I worked on the car?
Please help. this one sounds so simple. I am in the process of taking everything off again and reassembling it again.

Well, I re connected everything again and this time rpm was hovering 4000. So I shut down and started up a few times and now it dropped down to 750. I think the dist cap was so bad that the computer was over compensating and when I threw on the new cap it made the rpm go crazy.
