I'm an old widow woman and used to know this but have forgotten. I inherited this car and seldom drive it. Now the engine light is on and has oil, does not run hot, starts and runs good. How do I get the trouble code by turning the ignition on and off? Please help!

 

How many numbers should there be? Does 3475 sound reasonable or not?

 

The codes are 2 digit. It should always end with 55 (end of file indicator).

37 = 1987 and later models: cruise control servo failure
75 = Unlisted
Lack of a 55 makes me wonder the accuracy here. Please verify your codes and post back.

Being an ODB1 setup, unfortunately most auto parts stores are unable to check the codes for you

 

I also had written on the paper 347555 but I will try again today. Sometimes its hard to tell when it pauses and when it doesn't. Would you believe the cruise control has been actring up but I didn't associate that with the code...thought that just pertained to the motor. The cruise control sometimes causes the car to jerk and I cut it off and then it runs smooth again. I bet thats what it is. I drive it only once a month to get horse feed and had a new motor put in about a year ago (sentimental value) but was afraid to drive it at all.Thanks again.
