Also, I was wondering if anyone has the unlimite car fax report tool because I can't afford to run one and I would like to. VIN 1B3EJ46X1YN193404

I may be wrong, but I referenced the official shop manual. I find no reference on repairing the inner tie-rods. They appear to be of the steering rack.

That's odd! I can buy the inner tie rods everywhere for around 30$. At worldsuspension I can actually get the driver and passenger inner tie rods set for 20$ approximate. Also, when I brough it to get the alignment they flat out told me they could not align it due to the passenger side inner tie rod being worn.

Anyone else have any useful information that may be able to help me out. Can anyone verify that they are of the steering rack. I know that they control the steering of your vehicle you can see that with a blind eye. I was just hoping someone had done the repair in the past! I suppose I'l wait and see if anyone else has a suggestion.

Also, anyone willing to do a Carfax on the VIN I posted above? It would be greatly appreciated

You did not indicate the year of your car. You didn't fill out your profile. I guessed at 1999. Unless your Stratus is a 1995 model the inner tie rods are part of the steering rack.

inner tie rods are serviceable from the rack. all you need to do is go to any autoparts store web page and look up your car.

However if you do not have the necessary special tools, it is impossible to do this repair yourself. in fact, if you take on this job yourself and screw up the threads on the rack, you'd wish you paid the $200 to get it done by someone that has the knowledge, skills and tools. Besides, $200 with the alignment seems quite fair. Even if you manage to replace the part you still need to have it aligned and that's probably going to be in the $50 range, the part will cost you ($30-70). You'd maybe save $100 for the labor... but then after cussing and swearing and taking the chance of failure is the $100 really worth it? If you are successful great but if not, then how much is it going to cost you? Be careful when buying CHEAP parts. they are always inferior junk from China!!! I made that mistake once.

I can build a house from foundation to roof... however I don't have the tools, expertise or patience for things like drywall finishing. I could do it but it would take me way too long, so I hire someone that can do it. Lets say it takes me 10 days where a pro can do it 2 days and it cost's me $1500 to pay them. I can rebuild 2 transmissions in 1 day for $750 each. So if I work at something I'm good at I can pay someone at what they are good at. I'd actually loose more money if I did the drywall work myself.

car farce (fax) is a JOKE!!!! you can't afford to run it, so you expect someone else to give you that information that they have to pay for?

It's a 2000 Dodge Stratus SE 2.4L DOHC 16 Valve

Sapporo, I bought the car a bit over a month ago, and it runs great. But in the rear I noticed the tow hitch is bent towards the rear as if it was lifted up out of a ditch. I had to replace the hub and bearing on the right front, all 4 upper ball joints (control arms were fine) and I had to get 4 new tires. It's aligned and wil drive ina perfect straight line but will shake around 70.

I only asked about the Carfax because being on this forum before I noticed of someone that asked the same thing and got the information on the car. Someone had a dealer account and had some sort of Carfax that was unlimited they could get unlimited reports. Obviously they pay for that, just thought I would ask. And even if Carfax is a joke, if it turns up informatiion, some information is better then no information
