does anyone have a guess at how much horse power the govenor on a 2.4L 96 stratus engine takes off

 

and does getting one of those deals that you plug into your diagnostic port make a diffrence.....if so where can i get one for a 96 2.4l stratus

 

ok, the governor has nothing to do with your hp. when you get to the preset speed range, it cuts the ignition momentarily to keep you at that speed. changing it will NOT add any hp...at all.

a power controller, or whatever they are called do help on high performance cars, but the one i have seen on use with a stratus sedan, it was not much faster than stock in the quarter mile, and they are expensive.

 

i thought that govenors mess with timeing a little to keep us from laying down too much rubber
