had smoke roll out from steering wheel went away n now my headlights dont work they only work when i hold the lever like im clicking to high beem i have to hold it there so i high beem everyone or have no lights at all.

 

any ideas on where to start looking for problems?

 

the multifunction switch is where I'd start looking

 

I would start by asking what you are driving... (Year, Engine, Trim, # of doors).

I would agree that the multifunction switch burned up, and can usually be replaced as an assembly.
