Default 2.0 with automatic, engine won't start

OK, this may be one for a mechanic with lots of experience. I bought a 1999 plymouth breeze that would not start (got it real cheap). I had it towed to my house and started looking into it. My first check was spark, there was no spark and no voltage to the coil. I could not check the crank position sensor since I couldn't be under it and crank the engine at the same time, so I bought a new one. Still no voltage to the coil. I had some free money at Autozone, so I got a cam position sensor. After replacing it I now when I key on, I get a quick 12 volts to the 2 outer terminals of the coil, and when cranking I have fluctuating 12 volts. When I place a test light from the center term to the outer there is no light. I checked the ASD relay and switch it with others. They all check ok. I have 12 volts at term 30 at the ASD relay and good continuity from term 30 of the ASD to pin 45 ( I think) of the PCM connector. I believe when I test continuity from ground to term 30 I have high ohms readings, which makes me think I have a short to ground somewhere. Does anyone have any inputy they can give me before I start testing each wire? I am using a crappy haynes manual so the wire schematic is horrible.

get a Shopkey, mitchell or oem wiring diagram and a real scanner that'll get you on the right track.

I have a scanner, no codes stored but the battery was dead and I can't get more than an engine crank out of it. I guess I will need to start tracing wires.
