So I have a 96 Stratus that up until a few months go was running great. I was stopped at a stop light and the car just died and would not start again for nothing. We towed the car home, ran the codes and they were coming back with ALL the sensors needing to be replaced. DONE! along with gaskets and belts plugs and wires. The odd thing is yesterday the car would start and would idle beautifully but if there was any jarring motion in the car like a quick stop or even a tap to the top of the motor it would just die! So know today my husband is working on it again. Has bought and installed another new crank sensor but every time he runs the codes it keeps coming back with same code. Crank shaft sensor! Now it won't start again! it will turn over but will not start. Does anyone have any ideas what could be going on. We can't afford to dump any more money into it right now since DH is unemployed but we can't keep using the gas guzzling diesel truck! HELP!

 

When you get it to idle instead of tapping on the motor, gently move wires and connectors. Sound like a bum wire or conncetor. You should also clear the CPU to get rid of fault codes that no longer apply.
