Default 2001 stratus amp problem...

Stupid girl spilled a double big gulp on my factory amp and smoked it up, ive tried wiring 2 diff amps to replace it but its just not right...i used the wires coming from radio for my line out converter and wires coming from amp for my new amp...music sounds crappy and it seems like its over powering my new amp...is it even possible to hook up a new amp with the existing wires or do i have to re-wire the whole damn thing??!!

Sounds like you are overdriving the amplifier. The input level to your amplifer is too high. There could also be an impedence mismatch. Don't use your old speaker wires to drive the amplifier. Try skipping your converter, if possible.
