DIY A/C Flush / Recharge - after shop Compressor change
Hi,
Can I use (I guess wet) air from an air compressor from Harborfreight, to flush out my a/c. I was thinking about buying a cheap air compressor, a can of flush fluid, and one of those $18 venturi air vacuum pumps that you just put the air compressor on to get a vacuum to diy a flush / vacuum and then recharge. So allin I should be able to do it for under $200 with changing the accumulator as well.
BACKGROUND:
I had my a/c compressor in a 2000 2.4L Dodge stratus fail and seize last year. I had the shop just put in a new compressor, without doing any other changes to the system such as a flush, and changing the drier or refilling the system with r134s etc as i couldn't afford it at the time
Does any one have any pointers on a DIY flush, what works what doesn't ?
Do I even need to flush or will a vacuum and recharge probably do the trick ?
Is there anyway to know if the ammco garage would have put the oil into the compressor when they changed it out ?
Can I just vacuum the system as it is, and recharge with r134a and have the compressor deal with any remaining contanimation for a couple of weeks ? (Vacation - dont think the kids are going to deal with no a/c on a summer car trip) I was going to take a bypass serpentine belt withme ... just incase.
Could I use the gas station air with the venturi air vacuum pump, and just skip the buying the air compressor as well ?
Thanks in advance
