need to replace front coil springs and struts. i already have the instructions on how to do them, will a cheap clamp on compressor work on spring or will the control arm be in the way. or is it best to take to a shop with a press type compressor?thanks

 

If your replacing the springs and struts why not just buy quick struts and save the hassle of pulling them apart?

 

unfortunately they don't make quick struts for the front just the rear ones; would be nice if they did

 

A Spring compressor will do. If you know how to use them. Just make sure you compress the spring until there is NO TENSION on the top hat before you loosen the nut, so the strut mount doesnt fly off.
Autozone and most part store lease out spring compressor for free. However, some of them are fairly beat up and i would not use them. Check the condition on the tool b4 use.
