this is my sister car its an 01 stratus with the 2.4 dohc.
heres what is going on with it, she was sitting there letting it warm up for prox 5 minutes then it just died, started back up her words sounded like a 2 stroke, deffently missing on a cylinder or two, i get there its starts up twice and thats it now it wont start, got it to my house stuck the battery charger on it let it recharge the battery. while we was working on her car last night i hooked the jumper cables up to it and made a bobo on her car hooked then up backwards, it was pretty cold last night and was getting tired of standing there for 5 hours trying to get it to start.
ok heres important information.
fuel pressure 54lbs ok
injectors have power to them
spark check nice whiteish blue
will not run on starter fluid
tried unplugging map sensor still no start
started to think i fuel washed the cylinders so put a little oil in to bump compression back up still nothing.
checked codes and there was an egr code and i accedently hit erase but this morning i rechecked and didnt find any codes. mil still lights up
I'm starting to think that the cam position sensor is giving faulty readings, i did pull connector and no oil was inside of it.
a little history the car had the timing belt snap trashing the valves earlier this year got it replaced, she didnt bother to tell me but learned after he ****ed it up, and it needed a new head gasket sent it to a friends shop after comeing to the conclusion she cracked the head again, i was in the middle of rebuilding an engine for someone so i couldnt take it one. its ran fine no issues with it since and thats been 2-3 months.

Edit: also did go to junk yard and got a new map sensor off and 03 but the alignment tab was on opposite side leading me to believe its possible that the motor may be an 05ish after doing parts research

 

well found it. the exhaust cam split in to 2 pieces.
