Default Fuel Gauge Incorrect Reading

Hello all,

This has been going on for some time and i think im ready to get it fixed but i just wanted the pros input beforehand.

The gas gauge is reading incorrectly most of the time. It would say i have maybe 3/4 of a tank when i probably on have about 1/4. Im thinking it is the fuel pump that maybe the float is stuck or whatnot. Nonetheless, if it is, im just going to have them replace the whole fuel pump, as its probably going to be reccomended. My question is though is how difficult is it to get to that? I know that on some cars its a pain in the rear to access it, but i have a 2003 Dodge Stratus and i wanted to try to figure out how long it would take for a garage to do it so i can get a good fix on the amount its going to cost me to have them fix it.

I know it would probably be best if i contact them directly, but like i said id like to know if it might be something i might be able to do. If its something just as simple as taking off the straps and bolts to the tank, disconnecting a few wires and popping it out of the tank, then i might do it myself.

Thanks in advance!!

its about an hour and half job not counting draining fuel, i believe on coupes you might be able to get to it under rear seat thru an access panel,on sedans you have to drop the tank to get to it
