i have a 02 stratus 2.4l dohc i recently did the timming belt on the car and it wont start when the cam sensor is bolted on. but when i take the sensor off it starts up it has a rough idle. i went to put the cam sensor while it was running and the engine die instantly has anybody has this same problem.

first, verify that the timing is correct. If it's off the cam sensor will shut things down to prevent damage. I don't recall if the 2.4 is interference, but I'm leaning towards not, and the rough idle you describe tells me something isn't lined up properly. You only need to be one or two teeth off for it to shut down, and cause timing issues.

The other thing to check, is that the Crankshaft sensor is in good shape too. If that one is messed up, it'll make the Camshaft sensor thing it's in the wrong position. Either way, you'll get shut down.
