Default how smart are these transmissions?

as some of you may know from my previous posts, i have been having transmission problems recently. they arent nearly as bad at they were. one day it was awful but now, there is just what feels like very occasional and slight slippage. the rpms never spike, but when it shifts generally from second to third it will feel like its leaning into the shift is the only way i can describe it. there is still forward power but the engine sounds like its moving alittle easier then it was like a slight load has been take off. it only lasts for maybe half a second and it doesnt do it all the time. so my question is, are there enough sensors that if something were actually wrong that it would throw codes? or would it only throw codes if something electronic was wrong? my fear is a mechanical failure. im on a very tight budget and i cant afford any mechanical transmission work. so im trying to figure out if i have an impending mechanical failure on my hands, electronic issues(even though there are no codes), if it might just be a nature of the beast kinda thing, or if im reading too much into it and being a car hypochondriac.

its an 01 r/t coupe with 104k miles on it.
thanks guys.
sorry for the no caps, im doing this on my phone.
