Default Herpes sores on the Stratus hood lip...

Just wondering how common this is for the Stratus and what causes it? Is it due to a poor weld or seam from the factory? I've seen a lot of other Stratus now with the same problem and would like to know how others have dealt with it effectively. Have you had to replace the hood altogether or have you been able to spot treat it with good results? I'm not really too concerned about appearance so I purchased some POR-15 to slap on there. Has anyone had good results with this product? Any info would be appreciated.

The edges of the hood are rolled metal. It's very common for road salt and water to get splashed up, seep into the seam, and start to eat its way back out. Here in NEPA, we use a salt brine on the roads that is known for eating cars well before their time.
