Default Motor Swap?

Ok, I own a 98 Plymouth Breeze (stratus, cirrus, all the same), it is a 2.4L dohc. I have done a few mods to it, lowering kit, rims, spoiler, graphics, cold air intake, cat-back exaust, performance brakes. I am now starting to get serious, and I am looking to do an engine swap, does anyone have any suggestions on what can be dropped in... I know there's not that much performance parts for these cars. I was wondering if a Mitsubishi 4g63 would fit nicely, I know some of the older dodges had mitsubushi motors. Anyway I am in need of help...

Just my 2 cents...
My 96 has a 2.5 V-6 Mitsu and it has nice power to it. My ES model also came with a modified exhaust system that I dont see on too many others of that era. You could probably go bigger than that. Anyway, please show pictures of the kit, I would love to see them. I dont see too many of those on strats. good luck

ALright. I am new to the whole stratus thing. BUT! I do know engines really well. What you need to do is go to your DODGE Dealership. They will help you out on the exact amount of $$$$ that you are gonna be shelling out. But expect to pay ATLEAST 2500 to get it installed.

03-06
2.4L 4 Cyl - 2.7L 6 Cyl
02-Later
2.0L 4 Cyl - 2.6L 6 Cyl

This is what I got from them when I called em about 4 months ago. And my local dealership said it would cost about 3500 to change everything that needed to be changed.

Its not only the engine that they need to change, its also the mounts, and all of the parts that go onto the engine like the DOHC, I believe they also need to change the trans because of more torque.

This should get you all started.

The 2.4L is the best upgradable engine that year stratus ever came with. An engine swap is pointless you motor has a TON on potantial. Swap that POS auto for a neon manual trans, upgrade the clutch and 30 WHP is possable. Then theres full engine rebuild kit's with forged internals, you name is and it's avalable for the 2.4L. Howell has lots of stuff for your carStratus

I personally wouldn't waste money throwing the 2.4L into your car. The 4g63 is an amazing motor. You'll probably need to fabricate one of your motor mounts, need a new trans I think, and a new ECU. Go with the 4g63 and turn it into one of the quickest Stratus on the road. But again this will cost big bucks.

I know I am looking at alot of cash to put into this engine, but mine has way too many miles on it to do many mods, I would like to do up all i can to a dodge engine or sumthing like that, but japanese engines have so many more possibilities. Lots of sites sell JDM engines at good prices with real low miles, so thats why i was thinking of going with that, not to mention all the performance parts for them.

Although I'd like to see a bolt on turbo kit for dodge stratus', that would be awesome. If more people started getting serious with this kinda stuff for our cars we'd see some sweet mods out there for alot less cash. Like why can't I get some freaking alteza tail lights!

Thanks for the help guys.

Going with a JDM motor is just a stupid idea. sorry but it is. Your talking custom EVERTHING. The 2.4L is one good motor and can easly make more power then JDM's sorry do so reseach on this motor, it's basicly the same engine as an SRT-4. And it's made to fit perfictly in a strauts.
