Crankshaft/Dampner Removal Problems 2.5L
Hello, I've got a 99 Stratus 2.5L where I can't get the crankshaft/dampner nut broken loose so I can replace the water pump & timing belt. I've tried using penetrating oil and an 18" breaker bar and a 700 ft. pound air gun and she still wont break loose. It should be removed counter clockwise, right (I've tried both ways)?
Will I need to put a pipe extension on the breaker bar to get more leverage or will I end up snapping the nut? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Otherwise I'll have to have it towed into a garage and let them finish the job for me. I'm new to the forum and hope I'll get an email that there are some responses waiting for me. Thanks guys!
