2001 Cigarette Lighter
Does anyone know if the 2001 Dodge Stratus SE was built without a functional cigarette lighter? I have one towards the bottom but it has the signal of no-smoking and it does not get any electricity to it. I don't want to assume its broken if the 2001 Dodge Stratus was just built without a functional one as a way to promote non-smoking or something of the sort.
Any information is a blessing. Thankss

There is a slight difference between a cigarette lighter port, and a 12v power port. If you're trying to push a lighter in there, it won't heat it up (a little too deep to connect). Have you tested it with a volt meter with both the car turned on, and off. Some (like the 1g) the lighter port shuts down with the car. My current truck ('05 Sorento) has one port that stays on, and one that doesn't.
If it's truly not getting power, there should be a fuse for it, with the possibility that there is an inline fuse in the harness behind the dash for it.

It doesn't get any power whatsoever. My friends tried hooking up a tester to see if my alternator was bad and there just wasn't any electricity flowing to it. I thought that all cigarette lighters were the same thing because you can buy like things to plug into it that will charge. I don't have one that works and when I bought the car from the guy he told me that it was designed that way to promote non-smoking but i don't know if i necessarily believe him but its the only dodge i've ever had and no one can say that its false or true lol so I don't know
