1999 stratus 2.5L
car idles rough, acts as if it wants to stall, better at higher rpm......mechanic said air flow problem. What should I be looking for to replace? ....have read everything from crank sensor, distributor etc. Had dist. and cps replaced 1 yr ago...Advice?
Take a look at my posts (PurpleBeeper). I'm working on the same problem in a 97 Stratus 2.5 V-6. It seems like the large red power wire from the alternator to the "+" terminal near the fuse block can melt the wires it is bundled with causing all kinds of weird driveability problems.
My 97 was running just like you describe for over 6 months before I ever got a check engine light. Once the light came on the code was for the IAT (intake air temp sensor) & I changed it, but still had the problem. A month later I also get a "5V source" trouble code (MAP-manifold air pressure), but the sensor is good.
Check that bundle of wires and/or buy a diagnostic test series from AllData would be my advice. Good Luck!
