Got a - new to me 97 Stratus 2.5 engine , auto tranny , auto stick ; was driving it today and pulled to a stop sign ;stoped went to take off and the engine reved but no go , put it in neautral back to drive and worked perfect ; then a little bit later it done the same ; the transmission operates good , shifts perfectly , no slipping , just did this out of the blue ; anything to check out ??

 

Check the fluid. If that's OK (it likely is low or worn, should be a strawberry color), than the TCM needs replaced. It sits right on top of the transmission and has a wire harness on the passenger side of it. 1/2hr job to replace if needed.
