Default HVAC controls not working

Hello all,

I have a 2004 Dodge Stratus 2.4L DOHC Sedan. Right now the HVAC controls do nothing and have not done anything since winter time. In the winter time the blower motor would decide when it wanted to come on. 9 times out of 10 it would not come on.

I have tried searching and the only thing I keep on getting is the Blower Motor Resistor, but my problem is I don't have any fan speeds at all. So could it still be the resistor?

Anyone else have this problem before?

did you check fuse? doubt its the resistor if resistor was bad you would still have high speed(bypasses resistor power straight from switch), i would try pulling fan and see if it works if you appy 12 volts to terminals on fan with test leads, if it doesn't work bad fan,if it does work check for bad wiring between switch and fan or switch is bad

Alright. I did some testing today on it.

I checked all the fuses. Everything was good. I pulled the fan out first and hooked it up to 12v converter and it kicked on. I then took the resistor out and it had surface rust all over it. I took a shot in the dark and went to the local parts store and bought a new one. I put the new one in and now all the speeds work great.

I was going to replace the resistor at first, but then every thing I found on Google said you usually have 1 speed still. My car didn't have any fan speeds that worked.

Thanks for the help!
